Sealed proposals endorsed “WILLITS & BATES PAVING PROJECT - Contract #8-25(P)” will be received from contractors by the City of Birmingham, at the office of the City Clerk, located at 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, Michigan, until 2:00 P.M. local time, on Thursday, June 12th, 2025. The proposals will be opened and publicly read aloud at that time. Bids submitted after the exact time specified for receipt will not be considered.
General Description of Work: This project includes typical partial-depth pavement repairs on Willits Street (Old Woodward to Chester), Bates Street (Maple to north terminus), and Chester Street (Maple to Willits). Full-depth pavement repairs are also specified where needed to accommodate concrete curb and gutter road geometrical modifications, as well as a limited amount of undertground utility work such as water main and storm drainage improvements. This project also includes concrete sidewalk and ramp improvements, driveway replacements and lawn restoration.
Major work items include: approximatley 4,300 square yards of partial depth milling & replacement, 2,350 square yards of full-depth pavement removal with 1,650 square yards of full-depth pavement
replacement, 1,000 linear feet of new concrete curb and gutter; 2,985 square feet of new concrete sidewalks; 97 square yards of new concrete driveway approaches, 600 square yards of lawn restoration; 244 linear feet of new water main; 209 linear feet of new storm sewer; and other items to make a complete project.
Bidders shall review and comply with all Contract Documents, and supplemental information, as defined in the Information For Bidders.
Bidding documents for this project must be obtained electronically through the Michigan Inter-governmental Trade Network (MITN), which may be accessed at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn.
Vendors wishing to obtain copies of the bidding documents will need to register through the MITN website. Electronic versions of bidding documents will be posted to MITN starting Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
The successful bidder shall be required to post bonds, and to comply with the contract requirements of the City Charter. Bids are firm, and no bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after opening of bids.
Procurement for the City of Birmingham will be handled in a manner providing fair opportunity for all businesses. This will be accomplished without abrogation or sacrifice of quality and as determined to be in the best interest of the City of Birmingham. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bid proposals, to waive any irregularity in any of the bid proposals submitted, and to accept any proposal which it shall deem to be the most favorable to the interest of the City.
A certified check or bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid must accompany each bid proposal.
