25-35 - Clothing Swap and Sustainable Textile Engagement

The City of Ann Arbor is seeking qualified firms to support and enhance the measurable climate impact of its A2ZERO Swap Program. These Swap events allow community members to donate items they no longer need and take items they want — all free of charge. These events help extend the useful life of goods, reduce landfill waste and pollution of our local waterways, and support a circular economy in Ann Arbor.

The selected firm will be responsible for delivering a robust schedule of swap events, with a strong focus on textile reuse, skill-building in repair and repurpose, impact storytelling, and community education and outreach. The overarching aim is to develop consistent, engaging programming that fosters community connections, encourages residents to swap instead of buy new, and promotes circular economy habits. All programming must be designed to be equitable and inclusive, serving Ann Arbor residents across diverse socioeconomic groups, neighborhoods, and other key demographics.

The selected firm will collaborate closely with the City's project manager to oversee planning, workflows, and program execution, ensuring strong A2ZERO representation at each event. The A2ZERO Swap Program will be co-developed by the selected vendor, the community (as appropriate), and the Office of Sustainability and Innovations.
