Specifications include, but are not limited to: Headset must be offered with two band options: Headband and connection to the helmet rail. Headset must be non-reflective Black Headset must be an “over-the-ear” style ear muff. In-ear will not be accepted. In the rail configuration: o Headset must attach to the top of the rail, not from behind. o Headset will have an “open” and “closed” position to facilitate donning and doffing. o Hearing protection will be enabled when the headset is in the closed position o In the open position, operator must be able to receive (via the headset speaker) and transmit (via the headset boom mic) over the radio o The Ear Cups will be able to rotate clockwise and counter-clockwise when mounted to the helmet Headset must have silicone gel ear cushions that contain no hazardous ingredients Headset must provide impulse noise hearing protection up to 165db in accordance to ANSI S12.42-2010 Headset must have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of at least 20db in accordance with ANSI S3. 19-1974 Batteries o Headset shall use AAA Batteries o When batteries are depleted or removed, headset will still provide Radio Rx/Tx capability o The headset will not draw power from the radio Headset will have a Boom Mic o Microphone must be a Dynamic Microphone o Boom mic must have a connector and be removable/replaceable by operator.
