The City of Columbia Utilities department is wanting to contract with a prime contractor for the rehabilitation, maintenance and repair of the Walnut Street Water Tower. Approximate dimensions are as follows: tank diameter of 87’-6”, high-water level of 159-feet, low-water level of 134’-6”-feet, and an overall height of 169-feet. There are 18 columns and one wet riser that are approximately 4-foot in diameter. Prime contractor and/or permanent employees shall perform (at a minimum) eighty-one (81%) of the work on the project. Contractor shall provide materials, equipment and labor that meet or exceed the project specifications (Attachment 1), any addenda (as altered, amended, or modified by such addenda) hereto and all requirements described herein. Contractor shall secure all necessary licenses and building permits for all trades including street parking permits before beginning work, keep necessary records as required, and do all work in such manner as to comply with all ordinances and laws of the City, County, State, and Nation as apply to the work herein outlined. Contractor shall be responsible for all existing underground, overhead facilities, structures and utilities and contractor shall have all verified prior to the start of construction. Contractor shall call Missouri One-Call System at 1-800-DIG-RITE (344-7483). Contractor shall park, remove or store all materials, tools, equipment, etc in an area approved by the City representative. The City shall not be responsible for theft or damage to the contractor’s property. All possible safety hazards to workers or the public shall be corrected immediately, and left in a safe condition at the end of each workday. Contractor shall be responsible for providing and placement of barricades, tarps, plastic, flag tape and other safety/traffic control equipment required to protect its employees, the public, surrounding areas, equipment and vehicles. The flow of vehicular traffic shall not be impeded at any time while contractor is performing work under this contract. Contractor shall take all necessary steps to assure proper safety while performing work under this contract. Contractor shall comply with all local ordinances regulating noise levels, dust, mud, roadway load limits and barricades/warning devices required at the site.
