The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory (MSHP) Crime Laboratory is expanding their current capabilities /services and is requesting to purchase a Virtual Comparison Microscopy (VCM) instrument system, including both stationary and portable stations and scanners, related accessories, comparison software and service agreement. In order to meet the needs of the MSHP crime lab, the VCM system must be designed for the purpose of scanning expended cartridge cases, shotshells, bullets, bullet fragments, and silicone casts of various sizes and conditions and produce high resolution 3D images intended for use in VCM comparison. The VCM systems must include virtual lighting at all angles in a 360-degree circular range of motion around all expended ammunition components, automated scanning of multiple items in a single batch, automated enhancement tools for firing pin impressions and firing pin drag, and incorporate algorithms developed by NIST. The MSHP crime laboratory has conducted extensive research and in-house testing on multiple commercially available VCM systems and has determined there is only one system that meets all their needs, which is the TopMatch 3D system invented, developed and manufactured exclusively by Cadre Forensics.
