5.2.1 Contractor must remove, repair and rebuild damaged stone wall on the North Gate Entrance at Jefferson Barracks Park main entrance, 533 Grant Road, St. Louis, Missouri, 63125. The damaged area is between the 2 columns on the eastern side of the gate, measuring roughly 30’ long, 4’3” tall and 26” wide. A. This section of the wall needs to be removed entirely to the footing. B. Care should be taken to salvage as many original stones as possible. 5.2.2 Contractor must perform demolition work taking care to protect the facilities that will remain. 5.2.3 Contractor is responsible for the reinstallation of existing stone and must comply with Spec-Mix ASTM C 270 property specifications type “O” mortar, 350 psi average compression strength after 28 days, 75% water retention minimum, 14% air content maximum. Attached you will find Spec Mix Tuckpoint Mortar. 5.2.4 All replacement stones and mortar used will need to be approved by County before install. A. The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the replacement mortar must be available for inspection on the project site and provided to the County for review upon request. 5.2.5 The Contractor must notify the Project Manager once the footings are exposed, prior to initiating any rebuilding work. A County Representative must inspect and evaluate the footing conditions on-site before authorization to proceed is granted. A. An allowance of $8,000 is included in the total bid amount to account for potential repairs to footing conditions that cannot be assessed until demolition and excavation are complete. B. All bidders are required to include this allowance in their base bid. No additional compensation beyond the stated allowance will be permitted unless the County formally authorizes a change order. C. If the footing conditions are determined to be unsatisfactory, the Contractor shall be required to perform footing replacement work before continuing with wall reconstruction. The final scope and cost of any footing repair or replacement must be clearly documented and approved in writing by the County prior to commencement.
