Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor shall understand and agree that the City shall have the exclusive right to determine eligibility for and the amount and type of prescription medication assistance provided under the contract. The contractor shall furnish prescription medications to City customers that are determined to be eligible for prescription medication assistance. The contractor shall understand and agree that the City reserves the right to purchase goods and services from other sources. The contractor shall understand and agree that the City will provide the eligible customers with a voucher, that shall include the type and amount of prescription medications including strengths and numbers to be covered. The voucher, along with the prescription medications to be covered, will be presented to the contractor, by the City customer. The contractor shall understand and agree that the City shall only reimburse the contractor for the type and amount of prescription medications specifically indicated on the voucher. Any prescription medications provided to the City customer by the contractor that are not indicated on the voucher, shall be the sole responsibility of the City customer and contractor. Prescription medications shall be filled with the least costly acceptable prescription medication available, so as to minimize City customer trips to the pharmacy. When a substitution is authorized by the physician, the contractor shall provide the least costly acceptable prescription medication available. If the prescription medication does not authorize substitutions and the contractor is aware of a comparable less expensive alternative, the contractor shall contact the prescribing physician who may then authorize substitution.
