The City of Clayton wishes to design a transformative project that will replace the former “ice rink” site. It is intended that this project will encompass the following: An event lawn or surface with shade structures that could serve as a flexible gathering space for year-round activities (such as concerts, farmer’s markets, food truck site, etc.), and includes the ability to accommodate a temporary ice rink during the winter months. Small building to accommodate restrooms and flexible use space (seasonal equipment check out, concessions, admissions, etc.) New pickleball courts (number of courts to be determined) Potential new sport courts based on community feedback (such as basketball, sand volleyball, etc.) Overall site improvements may include elimination of Tennis Center Court #10 and the Century Garden (which is located between the current site and the outdoor pool), as recommended by the selected consultant (see Attachment A) Improved streetscape along Brentwood Blvd. Improved ADA accessibility The Consultant will assist the City in the preparation of construction documents as well as assist with bidding, permitting and construction administration for the project. The City has a strong interest in incorporating the best sustainable design practices in all projects. By ordinance, the City is required to construct all new buildings to achieve a minimum Silver LEED Certification.
