Specifications include, but are not limited to: The design, fabrication, and installation of an indoor play structure and accessory items at their new Heckart Community Center. The center will be constructed at 1800 West Third Street in Sedalia, Missouri. The building is expected to be open to the public in March 2022. The final design of the Heckart Community Center will be a 92,000 square foot building to include an aquatics facility, gymnasium, fitness area, as well as community rooms and senior center. It features an 25 meter pool with 8 lap lanes, a 14’ dive well with two one meter boards and one 3 meter board, a leisure pool, hot tub, three basketball courts, children’s indoor play area, child watch area, second level fitness, track, fitness studio and offices. This center will be the third largest community center in Missouri. The mission of the indoor playground is to create an interactive play environment with a very creative design. The ability of the playground designer/manufacturer to create a play structure that maximizes the number of children on the structure at one time as well as utilize the indoor space for maximum enjoyment by its participants, is an important consideration. Sedalia Parks & Recreation Department would like to reach a broad age range of children including the 2-5 year olds and the 6-10 year olds. A standard outdoor play structure will not be acceptable for this proposal. A themed structure is desired. The design of this structure must meet all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements for play structures.
