Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor shall provide mowing/trimming services in a professional manner in accordance with the highest standards appropriate to promote a healthy lawn and to minimize damage to trees, shrubs, other desired plants, and surrounding property. The contractor shall provide mowing and trimming services every seven (7) to fourteen (14) calendar days between April 1 and October 31, or as directed by the Department. The contractor shall use commercial grade tools, equipment, and quality materials approved by the Department. Farm type tractors with drawn (pull type) or three-point hitch, rotary (brush hog) mowers may only be used for field or levee mowing. The contractor shall provide mowing/trimming services as depicted on Attachment #1. The contractor shall mow and string trim all lawns for the first time in the spring to two and a half (2 ½) inches in height. The contractor shall mow and string trim all lawns to three (3) inches in height thereafter. The contractor shall trim around signposts, trees, shrubbery and other permanent objects within the designated areas. Road ditches associated with the parking lots shall also be trimmed by the contractor. The contractor shall not mow or trim around occupied campground(s) until the campground area(s) have been vacated. 3.4.5 The contractor must cease mowing when visitors are in close proximity to the contractors’ tractor, mower or trimmer and will continue only when that person or persons has moved a safe distance from the mowing area. The contractor shall be held responsible for all damage to the facilities, lawns, trees, shrubs, other desired plants, surrounding property, and any vehicles parked in the state lots resulting from improper use of tools, materials, equipment and from debris thrown from the mower and/or trimmer during mowing/trimming operations. Any damage shall be repaired by the contractor at no cost to the Department.
