Project Overview: This Request for Bid is for the repair and grading of the youth baseball/softball infields at the Hilburn and Evans complexes. The work includes grading of existing fields, importation of new infield mix, laser grading, and preparation of the fields for mix installation. The desired slope and field grading specifications are detailed below. The project must be completed to the highest quality standards and meet the following requirements: Field Specifications and Requirements: 1. Infield Grading and Preparation: • Laser Grading: Prior to starting any grading work, the fields must be laser graded to identify high and low spots. Laser grading must be performed both before and after grading to ensure an accurate final surface • Slope: The infield should have a consistent 1% slope (approximately 1.5- 2” per 10 feet) from the center to the edge, ensuring proper drainage and preventing standing water. • Turf Batter’s Boxes: the existing turf batter’s boxes should serve as the reference point for all grading. The infield grading must align with these batter’s boxes, which have not been damaged by the recent floods and will be used as the fixed reference point. • Import of Infield Mix: The contractor will import high-quality infield mix to replace the damaged material. The mix must be suitable for the field type and meet all standards for safety, drainage, and playability. • Harley Raking: The fields must be Harley raked to remove debris and ensure a smooth surface. All Debris must be removed and hauled away to a designated collection site near the fields. 2. Base Preparation: • Base Grade Preparation: The field must be prepared to accept the new infield mix, ensuring the base grade is stable, well draining, and ready for the mix installation. 3. Experience Requirements: • Contractors must have prior ball field construction experience. The contractor should demonstrate experience in similar field repairs, including grading and infield preparation, with at a minimum two appropriate references for previous projects.
