Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. The Department of Health and Senior Services utilizes the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) to provide commodity food packages to low-income pregnant women, postpartum women, breastfeeding women, infants, children up to age 6, and elderly persons age 60 and over, to enhance nutrition for vulnerable Missourians. The six Missouri food banks are the only feasible sources from which to acquire the Commodity Supplemental Food Program since they are the only non-profit organizations in their specific service areas, and per Federal regulation, only non-profit organizations may operate the CSFP. In addition, the six Missouri food banks have the unique capacity to warehouse and handle large quantities of food in compliance with food industry standards and the requirements of the Federal donated food programs. As a result, this meets the criteria as a single feasible source under section 34.044, RSMo.
