Specifications include, but are not limited to:This document constitutes an invitation for sealed bids from prospective bidders to establish a contract for the purchase of books for the Department of Corrections, Adult Education Literature (AEL) and General Educational Development (GED) classrooms at various correctional institutions throughout the State of Missouri, (hereinafter referred to as the state agency) in accordance with the requirements and provisions stated herein. 1.1.2 Brands Specific: The Department of Corrections requires that New Readers Press, Harcourt, Pearson Education, McGraw Contemporary, and Cambridge Educational Services books/materials be specifically purchased for the following reasons: these materials have been used in the state agency’s core curriculum for the past eighteen (18) years. The books/materials are uniquely designed to effectively meet the educational needs of adult literacy students who are incarcerated. Additionally, the state agency’s staff has been trained in the use of the New Readers Press, Harcourt, Pearson Education, McGraw Contemporary, and Cambridge Educational Services materials have experience in presenting the materials, and can monitor the student’s academic gain because of teacher familiarity with these books/materials.
