Explanation of the need to be fulfilled by this item(s), how is it unique from all other options, and why it is the only one that can meet the specific needs of the department: Rhapsody is a proprietary piece of software that interacts with healthcare laboratory instruments using the HL7 network protocol and others to interface with the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Hospital/Lab Information System (VetView). 3. Name of company/individual selling the item and why that source is the only possible source that can provide the required item(s): Lyniate- InterOperability Bidco, Inc. Lyniate is the sole owner of intellectual property rights in and to the software is the sole source for fulfilling the supply of the Rhapsody Software and the technical requirements for maintenance and support obligations. 4. Estimated cost of item(s) and an explanation why the amount to be expended is considered reasonable: $7,046.05 for the yearly support between February 10, 2026 and February 9, 2027. This is an enterprise level of software used throughout the healthcare industry and this amount is in line with other maintenance costs for other pieces of software.
