Specifications include, but are not limited to: Important to our research, this instrument has a HyPix-6000HE HPC detector with unique 31 bit dynamic range and zero-dead time mode of operation. HPCs are not affected by dark current accumulation like integrating CMOS / CPAD detectors are. The impact of dark current accumulation and read noise is most readily understood by looking at the weaker reflections on CMOS / CPAD based detectors. These weaker reflections are incorrectly recorded due to the inherent error introduced from dark current and read noise. The ability to accurately measure weak data improves data quality for our research, and this is especially pertinent at the higher 2θ angles. The HyPix-6000HE has a wide dynamic range making it possible to measure both the weak and strong reflections accurately at the same time and on the same image. One of the unique features of the HyPix-6000HE detector is a zero dead-time mode that enables the capture of frames without losing any information between frames. Therefore none of the errors associated with collection with a CMOS / CCD / CPAD detector occurs with HPC style detectors.
