The project consists of approximately 7.4 miles on Interstate 55 from Byram (Sta. 562+00) to McDowell Rd (Sta. 950+00). The project consists of joint/crack sealing, leveling, removing existing Open Graded Friction Coarse (OGFC), placing 9.5mm SMA on I-55, replacing impact attenuators and fog sealing shoulders. The I-55 overlay will include removing and replacing the existing OGFC from Sta. 562+00 - Sta. 950+00 at 1.5” and variable depth with Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA), 9.5-mm mixture. The existing OGFC varies from 1”- 1.5” on the mainline and from 1.5” - 2” on the shoulders, and the overall width varies from approximately 28’ to 44’. All existing OGFC must be removed regardless of depth/width and SMA shall be placed in kind to the areas where OGFC is removed. All shoulders shall be swept clean and fog sealed with a rejuvenating fog seal. The thermoplastic stripe on McDowell overpass bridge shall be removed and replaced.
