MDHS is committed to helping Mississippi families transition from a state of crisis to a state of self-sufficiency. To accomplish this mission, MDHS plans to allocate available funding, primarily the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant dollars, in collaboration with private and public partners to leverage and maximize those resources. These block grant dollars are awarded to the State of Mississippi under the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (Public Law 104-193) and governed generally by Mississippi Code Annotated, Sections 43-17-1, et seq. Respondents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with applicable federal and state law governing the TANF block grant and programs administered under TANF.
