The purpose of the Administration of the MS Employer-Assisted Housing Teacher Program is to give assistance to any licensed teacher that renders service for three consecutive years in a geographical area of the state where there exists a critical shortage of teachers, as designated by the State Board of Education. Any person receiving a loan under this program shall be required to purchase a house and reside in a county where the school district is located for which the teacher is rendering service, or any portion of where the school district is located. The contractor shall coordinate and manage the Mississippi Employer-Assisted Housing Teacher Program under the Mississippi Critical Teacher Shortage Act of 1998 by providing the following services: • Develop Application Materials. • Identify mortgage origination staff in lender offices in and near targeted school districts • Train Lenders. Serve as ongoing contact point for lending officers and teachers to answer questions about use of the program and resolve problems. Teachers should be able to use a toll-free number to receive help.
