The CPT must consist of a hydraulic push system, electronically actuated hydraulic rod clamps and safety clamps, hydraulic leveling jacks, hydraulically advanced/retracted guide tube (if necessary for support) or fixed guide tube, system control stand with ergonomic control arrangement and secure computer mounting and storage area (with areas for D/A system and control computer, weatherproof locking equipment storage cabinets, a workspace grouting area (grout mixer, grout pump, water pump, heated water tank (with electric heating element and separate generator and anti-theft enclosure), and control system. Electronic components shall include a depth gage, push pressure transducer system, hydraulic control system, 12V power distribution system, 120V power distribution system and true sine wave inverter (3000W), and USB digital-analog signal processing system [CPTU-probe-and -sensor to computer interface unit]. Control arrangement and general layout shall be intuitive and minimize operator confusion. Safety, ergonomics, and operator productivity shall be considered in all aspects of the CPTU system design.
