Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Veterans Affairs requests proposals for a board-certified psychiatrist to provide psychiatric mental health services to residents of the Minnesota Veterans Home – Silver Bay (Home). The requested services will provide support to 83 residents in Silver Bay’s skilled nursing home. The selected respondent will conduct 10 onsite reviews twice a month. A minimum of 20 reviews will be required each month. The selected respondent must be able to provide to the Minnesota Veterans Home – Silver Bay appropriate care coordination to support the Home’s mental health needs. These services shall be provided following the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) and the State of Minnesota and Federal–Department of Veteran Affairs guidelines. All services provided by the selected respondent shall be rendered following applicable professional standards of care and using their best independent professional judgment. Sample Tasks • Assess current and future mental health service needs with an emphasis on resident centered or directed care. • Make recommendation to the Home for admission on future residents. • Provide on-site and/or virtual psychiatric visits on a regular basis, including emergent virtual visits. Onsite and virtual psychiatric services will include up to 20 scheduled reviews per month, scheduled per mutual agreement of the responded and the Home. • Supply and maintain any equipment required to perform requested tasks. • Prescribe psychiatric medications to resident-patients as appropriate. • Design and implement a comprehensive training program for our multi-disciplinary team. • Comply with HIPAA and the Minnesota Data Practices Act. • Create electronic medical records for all encounters. • Appropriate billing to insurance companies. • Arranging for emergency care or specialty referrals when needed. • Management of health forms • Make recommendations for improvements to current and future programs as they relate to mental health. • Assure that all staff of the vendor performing services are free from tuberculosis, pursuant to Minn. R. 4658.0810.
