Specifications include, but are not limited to: MnDOT requests responses for a contractor to lead communications and engagement efforts for three upcoming, state road construction projects on I-494 and I-35W in the cities of Richfield, Bloomington and Eagan. The busiest stretch of I494 within the project area saw 170,000 Average Daily Traffic (ADT) in 2018 (pre-Covid). Interstate 494 between Bush Lake Road and 12th Avenue (State Project No. 2785-424) Construction is scheduled to begin in late summer 2023 through fall 2026 (tentative). This is the first project of a larger vision for I-494 between Highway 169 and Minneapolis Saint Paul (MSP) International Airport that expands I-494 to accommodate EZPASS; reconstructs bridges and pavement; improves safety, bicycle and pedestrian connectivity, and drainage systems from Highway 169 to MSP International Airport. State is planning a design-build delivery for this first project. I-35W between 82nd Street and 106 Street in Bloomington (State Project No. 2785-352) Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2023 and run through fall 2023. This is a resurfacing project that includes constructing additional lanes between 98th Street and 106th Street, and improving ramps, sidewalks, and signals at five intersections. State is planning a traditional design-bid-build delivery for this project. I-494 bridge over Minnesota River in Bloomington and Eagan (State Project No. 2785-433) Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2023 and run through fall 2025 (tentative). This is a major repair project that includes resurfacing I-494 and adjacent trail; replacing bridge joints; repairing bridge deck, beam ends and railings; reconstructing bearings; replacing lighting; repairing/replacing drainage. State is planning a traditional design-bid-build delivery for this project.
