Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requests proposals from interested consulting firms to perform final design and construction administration services for repairing a slope failure on the Sakatah Signing Hills State Trail in Mankato, MN. The Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail is a multi-purpose paved trail starting in Mankato, MN and ending in Faribault, MN. A slope failure occurred along a 100 foot section of trail embankment near Lime Valley Road in Mankato (lat 44.20251, long -93.97480) after a significant rainfall event in September 2016. The embankment along the slope failure is very steep (originally 1.3H:1V) and approximately 40 feet high. The toe of the embankment is along a stream bed. A topographic survey of the site was conducted in November 2016 by the DNR. A geotechnical analysis, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and feasibility design has been completed under a separate contract. The feasibility study was used to obtain FEMA Project Worksheet PA-05-MN-4290-PW-00182(0) to fund the repairs.
