Pumping and Inspection: Septic Tanks, Lift Stations: • This work shall consist of pumping, cleaning and inspecting wastewater septic tanks, and lift stations per MN Rule 7080.2450 which requires ALL solids and liquids to be removed from the tank along with the required inspection of each tank. • A sludge and scum measurement IS required prior to each pumping event, performed by MNDOT personnel. Rest Areas may have large amounts of sludge and scum and a Crustbuster or similar device is recommended. • Pressure-wash the interior of all tanks at each pumping event (optional). Disposal: Septic Tank Waste: • Septic Tank and Lift Station waste can be disposed by Land Application following MPCA rule or by disposal at the Rochester Municipal Water Treatment Facility. Dresbach and Wilson holding tanks must be disposed of at Rochester Municipal Water Treatment Facility or other qualified locations. Coordination: • MnDOT Physical Plant Manager will contact the vendor to coordinate the pumping event 24 hours prior to beginning work. • No weekend or holiday pumping will be allowed. • The Physical Plant Manager shall be contacted at the completion of each scheduled pumping event to allow for tank inspection. This is required so MNDOT personnel can ensure pumping has been completed for billing purposes. Text, email or phone call is sufficient.
