The windows at the Weisman Art Museum (WAM) were installed as teak units in the original construction in 1993. Over time, the teak has degraded and the units need to be replaced. This Project is to design and replace existing windows along the West Elevation only. New windows will be primarily aluminum, but the interior finish will be determined during design. In 2024, two windows were removed and existing conditions of the wall, sill, jamb and header were documented. The new windows will require a new detail to ensure proper flashing and drainage. The images, comments and considerations for this new design are included in the document: It is the University's goal that the window replacement be completed as soon as possible in 2026. Ideally, the majority of exterior Work is completed in mid-June and subsequent installations occurring inside the building. The schedule and logistics for installation shall be determined in December 2025 for WAM to plan accordingly with their exhibitions.
