Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Brooklyn Park Police Department is requesting proposals from organizations that can provide violence intervention services. • Street –based Outreach and Intervention The provider selected will have the ability to redirect large gatherings, address loitering and low-level narcotics sales, and stabilize areas impacted by violent crime. The provider will be expected to: o Use an assessment process or tool to properly identify needs of high-risk individuals and provide resources and assurances to those in need o Build relationships with community members, business owners, and apartment managers in areas of greatest need o Partner with organizations such as Brooklyn Park Recreation & Parks Youth Outreach Team to address youth and young adult challenges in the community o Partner with Brooklyn Park Recreation & Parks Youth Intervention services that address critical youth and family needs and provide juvenile mentorship, address housing and family challenges, food scarcity and truancy o Offer juvenile and adult mental health services or provide referrals to such services • Violence Interruption Focus on those individuals that we know are at the highest risk of being involved in violence. Ability to detect and interrupt potentially violent conflicts by changing group norms and manage negative energy that support and perpetuate the use of violence. The provider should be trained and have experience in defusing and deterring violent acts and providing alternatives, not simply displacing the violence.
