Specifications include, but are not limited to:The work to be done shall include the furnishing of all labor, materials, articles, equipment, incidentals, items, tools, services, supplies, methods, operations, skills in such quantities as may be necessary to provide comprehensive sidewalk and parking lot snow clearing, removal, and ice control services as specified below and as described in Division “C” (District Boundaries and Service Areas) for the 50th and France Special Service District. A. Sidewalk Snow Clearing 1. Sidewalk snow clearing services are to be provided for each snowfall during the term of this agreement. 2. For each snowfall, the Contractor shall begin sidewalk snow clearing operations at a trace of snow accumulation at the project site, and shall proceed with continuous snow clearing until the snowfall has stopped. 3. Contractor shall clear all snow from the sidewalks and place snow in windrows along the back of the curb. 4. Contractor shall create openings in the windrows between the street and the sidewalk in front of at least four property entrances per block face roughly equally spaced apart. Openings shall be a minimum of 48 inches wide. Openings shall also be created for the full width of all driveway and alley entrances. PAGE 11 50TH AND FRANCE SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT 5. Contractor shall create openings in the windrows between the street and the sidewalk in front of each bus shelter. Openings shall include the width of the structure, and continue in each direction no less than 48 inches. 6. All work shall be completed within two hours of the cessation of the snowfall, or by 9:00 AM if the snowfall has stopped between the hours of 12:00 Midnight and 7:00 AM. 7. Particular attention shall be given to the corners, curb cuts (pedestrian ramps) and sidewalk intersections. No windrows shall be placed on the corner. When windrows of snow are created either by Contractor or City snowplow operations as they plow both streets and/or alleys, Contractor shall maintain the sidewalk clear of snow extending from the far edge of one pedestrian ramp, wrapping the corner through to the far edge of the adjacent (perpendicular) pedestrian ramp. 8. Contractor shall ensure that mechanical equipment of any kind not be used closer than 12 inches to any building façade or streetscape feature, such as light poles, bus shelters, trash receptacles, trees, planters, etc. All snow must be cleared up to the streetscape feature using shovels or other hand tools. Any damage to streetscape components shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. The Contractor may, at its discretion, complete a photographic survey (either video or still) of existing conditions prior to the snow season.
