Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. PRE-SEASON MEETING a. The successful contractor’s snow removal personnel assigned to each facility will meet with an owners’ representative at each site within two weeks of signing the contract. b. If a new or different employee is assigned to a facility another meeting will be required. c. The purpose of the meeting will be to review the specifications, tour the site and agree on where to pile snow and where to store any contractors’ equipment or supplies. 2. WHEN TO REMOVE SNOW a. Following any accumulation and sidewalks are to remain cleared during the business day. b. When requested by a Facilities Management Representative for special situations not covered in the Region and Facility Information section, such as drifting snow. c. Respond within one hour if called out to a facility. 3. CREWS a. Each crew to have their own equipment and transportation. 4. SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL a. Spread ice melt compound as icy or slippery conditions develop and as needed for safety. The contractor is to supply the ice melt compound and storage barrels. b. Use a reasonable amount of ice melt compound rather than excessive amounts. c. Facilities Management Representatives may also request additional work. d. Use ice melt compound on walks, ramps and steps and other areas used solely by pedestrians. e. Contractor will provide all equipment necessary for the uniform dispersal of ice melt compound within the unit price dollar amount proposed. f. Use an ice melt spreader that will drop a uniform amount, no hand spreading. g. Walkways will be lightly treated after each shoveling/snow removal. 5. SNOW REMOVAL a. Do not throw snow onto parking lots or other areas that have already been cleared of snow. b. Do not compress snow on parking lots or other areas that need to be cleared of snow. c. Clear emergency exits pavement full width out to the nearest intersecting sidewalk of pavement. If not paved, clear a minimum 5 x 5 foot area at the door. d. Maintain a 5 foot diameter of snow cleared from around fire hydrants. e. Clear all areas to full width of the pavement including handicap ramps and curbs.
