The City of Minneapolis Department of Public Works, Solid Waste and Recycling Division (the City), provides solid waste management services to approximately 107,000 residential dwelling units. This includes all 1-4 unit residential buildings, and any buildings with five or more units that contract with the City for solid waste services. The City also provides garbage and recycling services to approximately 100 residential parks, 350 commercial properties and about 50 City buildings. These services include every-other week collection of Commingled Recyclable Materials from the curb or alley. The every-other week recycling service is provided primarily to customers who also receive weekly solid waste collection service, but also a small number of customers that receive recycling services only.
