1. Forestry mowing: a. Care should be taken when forestry mowing to not injure or mow any unmarked bur oak trees greater than 4” DBH. b. If forestry is proposed within 50’ of a trail, contractor must work with Project Manager ahead of time to temporarily post the trail as closed. c. Clear all roads and parking areas from trees, branches, vehicles, equipment, and debris resulting from this operation at the end of each workday. d. Any existing survey markers shall be protected. e. No mowed material shall be directed or deposited on roads, driveways or adjacent properties. f. Any mowing head must be set low and shall not exceed 3” high off the ground. g. Brush near standing trees not cut by mower must be cut by hand-held tools (e.g. chain saws or brush saws). h. The mowed vegetation shall be shattered by the mower and spread evenly throughout project area to decompose quickly. Mounds or piles of shattered vegetation not evenly distributed by the mower must be spread through other methods by the contractor. i. Service Provider will be held accountable for any damage to desirable non-target trees through operator negligence (including but not limited to scalping trees with the cutter head). 2. Herbicide Application a. All material must be cut stump treated unless too small (<3/4” diameter at cut height) to be effectively treated. b. Herbicide application must be by or be directly supervised by a licensed pesticide applicator in the State of Minnesota. c. No basal bark herbicide treatment is included for this project. d. Ideal herbicide application timing: Cut stump treatment in winter unless chemical is water based and conditions are not right.
