Because DEED ULJ’s, and supervising ULJ’s are committed to the adjudication of appeals arising for employment separations and the administration of the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance Law, they are unable to stay abreast of the evolving employment law landscape and rely on training from outside filed experts to stay current. The Upper Midwest Employment Law Institute is unique in the annual multi-day seminar training it provides practitioners. DEED continues to search for alternatives to its offering, but none exists in the jurisdiction of Minnesota. Minnesota specific training is required by law for ULJ’s.
