The work covered under this solicitation shall consist of the labor, equipment, materials, tools, herbicide, supplies, transportation, and incidentals necessary for stand improvement work and invasive species treatment using herbicide on eight (8) sites covering approximately 177.7 acres on State land in the Central Region, Lewiston Forestry Area. Specific project specifications for Bid Group 1, Tract 1 and 2 • Site was harvested Winter 2023 or 2024 and planted with tree seedlings in Spring 2024. • Access is good, less than ¼ mile walk to site. • Project Supervisor: Mark Miller, DNR Forester, mark.miller@state.mn.us 651-249-1231 Do NOT cut or Treat: • Trees marked with a W are reserve trees and shall not be cut or treated. • Leave all butternut untreated, uncut. Cut and leave UNTREATED: • Any or all oak, cherry, hackberry, hickory, birch, maple and aspen or other desirable hardwoods present that are 2-inch • DBH or larger that are poorly formed, not vigorous, leaning more than 30%, or have been mechanically damaged. • Stumps to be within 3 inches of the ground or no more than half the stump diameter. • Poorly formed trees are trees with lean more than 30% or with sparsely developed or stunned crowns. • Mechanically damaged trees are those with crown damage greater than 30%, and/or bark damage exceeding 30% of • stem circumference. • Trees marked in orange paint shall be felled, with exception to trees with "W" as noted above.
