Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) 1 – Lighting • Upgrade 17,569 fixtures, 67% of audited fixtures, from short-life and now outlawed (in MN) mercury-containing fluorescents to bright, consistent, improved CRI, long-lasting, energy-efficient LEDs. • Reduce O&M costs, allowing funds and maintenance team time to be spent elsewhere. 2 – Building Envelope • Reduction of outside air infiltration through the installation of door sweeps, caulking, and weatherstripping, reducing heating and cooling loads throughout campus. 3 – Steam Insulation/Blankets • Installation of insulation on valves, tees, fittings, and uninsulated steam pipe to reduce heat loss, increasing steam distribution efficiency throughout the campus. 4 – RCx and Nemzek BAS Upgrade • Implementation of demand control ventilation (DCV) in Nemzek, CMU, Library, Bridges. • Full Nemzek BAS controller upgrades for Nemzek hall. All outside air and return air damper and control valve pneumatic actuators replaced with new controllers as well as the integration to Tridium front-end. 5 – Kitchen Hood Optimization • The installation of kitchen hood controls, VFDs and cooking surface smoke and temperature sensors to efficiently and safely ventilate Kise Commons. • Installation and integration of kitchen hood controls into Tridium front end. 6 – Lab Optimization and Langseth BAS Upgrade • Replacement of old N2 JCI controllers with upgraded new controllers. • Installation of occupancy sensors to provide easy setback of ventilation when unoccupied. • Test and balance of full building to ensure proper ventilation. • Laboratory Ventilation Risk Assessment on Langseth labs to establish airflow reductions. based on risk of airborne contaminants in each space. 7 – Demand Response • Installation and reintegration of previous demand response program that was incompatible with new Tridium Front end. • Allows for active demand response program to schedule, setback and reduce overall site demand to reduce energy consumption. 8 –Submetering & Optimization Services • Installation and integration of electric and condensate meters throughout the campus. • Integration of all meters into Energy and Sustainability module. • AI-enabled analysis and optimization services. • Dashboards for site/building energy metrics for campus buildings.
