Long Cheng, Inc. is proposing to expand operations by relocating from its current facility to a newly constructed facility that better suits its needs. A better location will also correlate with the City of South St. Paul’s vision of relocating the facility to a site more suitable for meat processing. Long Cheng, Inc. is envisioning the creation of a wholesale marketplace in addition to its current operations and the installation of refrigerators to house the wholesale inventory that its current business location does not offer. The wholesale marketplace is expected to generate an increase in revenue and provide more livestock selection to the community. The total project costs for relocation into a new 32,600 square foot facility are estimated to be $7,000,000 of which up to $5,990,000 being supplied through a direct legislative appropriation. The DEED funds are proposed to be used for acquisition, predesign, design, relocation, and construction of the new facility. Long Cheng, Inc. will retain 13 current employees and plans to hire 6 additional employees over the next 3 years at an average wage of $18 per hour with an additional fringe benefit value of approximately $8 per hour.
