Treatment Area 1: Critical Cutting Target species will be cut utilizing heavy equipment and hand equipment throughout the unit. Leftover woody material will be burned, mulched, or slashed. A native rye mix will be broadcast following the cutting. Target species regrowth will be re-cut in June, July, and August for 2 years following the initial removal. Regrowth will be cut using hand equipment to prevent damaging native herbaceous species. Treatment Area 2: Foliar Herbicide Treatments Target species will be cut utilizing heavy equipment and hand equipment throughout the unit. Leftover woody material will be burned, mulched, or slashed. A native rye mix will be broadcast following the cutting. Foliar herbicide treatments will occur for 2 years following the initial removal. Treatment Area 3: Goat Browse Target species will be cut utilizing heavy equipment and hand equipment throughout the unit. Leftover woody material will be burned, mulched, or slashed. A native rye mix will be broadcast following the cutting. Follow up goat browse is not included in this solicitation. An herbicide treatment will be utilized following goat browse. Treatment Area 4: Grassland Conversion Target species will be cut utilizing heavy equipment and hand equipment throughout the unit. All leftover woody material will be burned. Target species in this unit include all native species under 8 inches DBH. A cover crop will be seeded after the initial removal. Non-indigenous species will be targeted with mowing and herbicide treatments. A native prairie mix will be broadcast in the fall. Germination mows will occur for one growing season after the seed mix is installed.
