Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work covered under this solicitation shall consist of the labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, fuel, supplies, and incidentals necessaryfor the snowplowing of the I-494 Trail that runs along the south side of the I-494 Bridgeover the Minnesota River. The I-494 Trail is a blacktop/concrete recreational trail, approximately 3 miles in length, whichbegins at Pilot Knob Road in Eagan and continues west to the cul-de-sac on American Blvd. East in Bloomington. Prior to work commencing, the Project Supervisor will meet with the contractor to review performance standards. All work shall be completed to the satisfaction of the Department of Natural Resources Project Supervisor.Work and performance not meeting specification and not to the satisfaction of the DNR Project Supervisor shall be just cause for the State to terminate contract.Contractor shall not subcontract any part of the work under this agreement.Contractor is responsible for all cost to repair damage caused by contractor to road and bridge surfaces, structures, power and other utility lines and all other damage.Hazardous areas, missing signs, or other problems must be reportedto the DNR Project Supervisor within 24 hours of completing a snowplowing trip.Depending on snow depth and/or MNDOT plowing activities, from the I-494 road surface, use of a snow blower is often required to sufficiently clear the trail of snow and ice. Contractor should plan and account for the need for frequent snow blower use when submitting the bid. Contractor should plan to call/voicemail project supervisor when they are planning to go out and plow. Snowplowing or blowingshall be performed within 24 hours of a 1inch or moresnow fall event as measured at the MSP International Airport. Contractor will plow no more than one time in a 24-hour period.A snowplowing trip is defined as plowing or blowing the trail to a snow cleared width from edge to edge of the trail and bridge pavement. Depending on snow conditions and the equipment used, it may require multiple snowplowing passes to complete one snowplowing trip.Due to the width of the bridge sidewalk a standard size ½ ton pickup truck with a mounted plow will not work. Contractor must use a blade, blower or sweeper that is sized for a sidewalk on that bridge portion of the trail because that section is too narrow.
