Specifications include, but are not limited to: Contractor will provide herbicide labels for chemical being used to Project Manager before any application on the site. Contractor will deliver all herbicide application records to Project Manager by the end of each workday. Contractor must follow current burning restrictions and statues applicable for the project area for burn piles. Contractor must obtain a burning permit from all applicable entities. Contractor must notify all applicable agencies for the burn piles. Cover Crop for the Project Area will be: Spring Barley at 60LBS/Acre Annual Rye at 40LBS/Acre Spring Wheat at 70LBS/Acre Grass seed for project is described in Attachment 6. Contractor will verify seed mix with Project Manager prior to planting. Provision of all tools, equipment, transportation, and Project Management, shall be considered and included in the bid and no additional compensation will be allowed for such items. Oak savanna restoration Oak Savanna 1 (OS1) @ 3.98 Acres This area is an altered non-native shrubland/woodland. The goal is to convert this area to an Oak Savanna. Work over the fall/winter of 2023 will be removing all woody species except for oaks and maples. In 2024, the area will be seeded with a grass and cover crop mix that will provide cover for the area. In 2025, the area will be release mowed three times. Triclopyr treatments in the fall will address any woody species regrowth in the area. Fall/Winter 2023 Work can only be conducted when target species are dormant, and the ground is frozen to prevent any rutting. Contractor will cut all woody species except for oaks and maples. All cut vegetation must have cut surfaces no more than 2” from ground (cut surfaces should be as flush as possible to do the ground). All woody species will be cut/stump treated immediately. Contractor will use a Triclopyr herbicide. The mixture must have a dye. All woody material will be piled and burned on site. Burn piles will be 15’ x 15’ x 15’ maximum. Burn pile locations must be approved by Project Manager before ignitions. All material will be free of dirt/sod clumps. Contractor must follow current burning restrictions and statues applicable for the project area for burn piles. Contractor is responsible for obtaining all permits for burning the piles Contractor is responsible for notifying all applicable agencies about the burn piles. Once the snow is gone, Contractor will fecon-soil-condition the area so that 90% topsoil is exposed. Spring 2024 Contractor will broadcast seed a cover crop and custom grass seed mix into the area Contractor will use a vicon broadcast seeder, or equivalent, to plant a cover crop and custom grass seed mix at rates denoted on seed tag. Species from the custom grass mix must be within 200 miles of origin from Minnetrista, MN. All substitutions must be approved by Project Manager. Growing Season of 2025 As directed by the Project Manager, Contractor will conduct three release mows during the 2024 growing season. Release mows will be conducted when the vegetation reaches 10” to 12” height. Vegetation will be cut with a flail mower to a height of 4” to 6”. This is to prevent layering or smothering from cut materials. Fall 2025 As directed by the Project Manager, Contractor will foliar broadcast treat woody species regrowth in the Project Area with Triclopyr.
