Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification. This single source request is for the purchase of GPS collar transmitters to be used on collaborative research project between Bemidji State University and the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The project will use the GPS collars on white-tailed deer on the Fond du Lac Reservation. Vectronic Aerospace Inc. is the only vendor who manufactures GPS collars for neonate (newborn) cervids, a necessary requirement for the objectives of this research. Furthermore, the project is designed to collaborate with on-going and future elk research within Minnesota and the Reservation which currently use, or will require, products from Vectronic Aerospace Inc. Use of compatible GPS products will prevent redundancies in other equipment and software (e.g., telemetry receivers, transmitter applicators, equipment and software to program transmitters) and will also ensure the necessary data compatibility between multiple ongoing and future collaborative projects.
