Boynton Health Clinic is located in the heart of the medical campus and is an important part of medical services offered at the University. The Boynton Health facility was built over a 45-year time frame and has included five major construction projects beginning in 1948 and concluding in 1993. It is 147,293 square feet and has five stories with two basements for a total of seven floors. The building was originally designed as a student health center and has been renovated many times. The current use is mainly as the University Health Clinic and Pharmacy, and will continue to be used as such for the foreseeable future. The University through Capital Project Management, and in conjunction with Boynton Health Services, commissioned and completed a Project whose intent was to determine the condition of the building infrastructure, envelope, and structural systems, and to determine the viability of use for the next 20 to 25 years. As part of that study the existing mechanical systems, including the particular AHU SUP002, were analyzed and studied with a conclusion that they have reached the end of their useful life. Refer to the attached Boynton Health Infrastructure Study 2018 Report included with this RFP for full results. The West wing of one of the buildings in Boynton has experienced continuous break down of its 12 coils Air Handling Unit (AHU) SUP002. This unit supplies heating and cooling to Boynton 2nd, and 3rd Floors. One set of existing cooling coils is unable to be repaired without reconfiguring existing AHU. The University is requesting the services of an Architect /Engineer team to: Study existing use of the AHU and redesign a replacement and more efficient AHU Figure out how the new efficient AHU can be reconfigured in the room. Map out existing room coverage and how removal of existing AHU or components can be achieved as well as installation of new AHU without major unplanned disruptions in this occupied clinic. Work closely with University Energy Management (EM) and other authorities having jurisdiction including University Building Codes Division (BCD) to design to University Applicable codes and Standards, and any other intents and considerations. Boyton Clinic is an active clinic and everyone must pay attention to any clinical requirements. The estimated total cost of the Project is $1,200,000 (current dollars, no escalation).
