The City of Big Lake is advancing a Public Safety Facility Project, which includes space for City Hall, the Police Department, and the Library. This effort began in October 2023 when the City Council and Big Lake Economic Development Authority (BLEDA) directed the Public Building Planning Committee (PBPC) to evaluate relocation options, including redevelopment opportunities that support economic growth. Key project milestones include: • Site selection: PID 65-00616-0105, a 5-acre parcel north of Hwy 10 purchased by BLEDA in December 2024. • Collaboration with Bradbury Stamm/GLTArchitects on space programming, concept budgets, and pre-design schematics. • Facility tours and benchmarking with comparable cities. • Development of an official project recommendation for City Council review. City Council Direction (Per City Council Workshop Session on September 24, 2025): • Scope: City Hall, Police Station, and Library (55,576 sq. ft. per space needs/programming) • Delivery Method: CMaR Following the RFQ process, the City will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to shortlisted firms. The selected firm will work closely with the City’s Public Safety Facility Project Team (Project Team), comprised of the City Administrator, Finance Director, Chief of Police, Community Development Director/EDA Executive Director, and the Public Building Planning Committee (two members of the Big Lake City Council).
