Specifications: Products listed in the specifications listed below must be as named or MnDOT Approved Equal. 3.1 Products: 3.1.1 National Electric Gate Company (NEI), Gate-Saver, Model# NEG385102GS 3.1.2 General Signals Inc (GSI), Gate Saver, Model# SK-1000C 3.1.3 Or MnDOT Approved Equal 3.2 Self-Resetting Gate Breakaway Device Specification: 3.2.1 Allows gate arms, hit by a moving vehicle, to rotate out of the way and return to the original position without damage to the arm. 3.2.2 Works with arms up to 40 feet. 3.2.3 The breakaway device can be disengaged to allow maintenance personnel to fix or install a new gate arm off to the side of the road but still be installed and affixed to counterweight arms. 3.2.4 The breakaway device operates on exit and entrance applications and has labeling so installer mounts the device for correct application. 3.2.5 The breakaway device shall be warranted by the manufacture against defects in material or workmanship for a period of three years from the date of purchase. 3.2.6 Shall be compatible with Hysecurity Strong Arm DOT 28 Gate Operator. 3.2.7 Shall have slotted mounting holes for possible variations from various gate operator manufacturers. 3.3 Operation: 3.3.1 Primary Direction: 3.3.1.1 The device will swing up to 45 degrees in the primary direction with a slow return to center. The shear pin is not affected when the device operates in the primary direction. 3.3.2 Secondary Direction: 3.3.2.1 The device shall swing to approximately 15 degrees in the secondary direction, with no speed control on return to center. A shear pin will be destroyed when the device is operated in the secondary direction.
