Block 1 Contract Activities: Contractor must masticate all standing trees, saplings, and shrubs greater than 1/2” in diameter except for what is specified below. All saplings/trees must be masticated to the ground surface and maximum chip size must not exceed 6” long x 4” thick. Contractor must masticate all aspen and birch up to 8” DBH. Aspen greater than 8” DBH can be left standing, but contractor can masticate Aspen greater than 8” DBH if they chose, but it is not required. Contractor must masticate all maple up to 6” DBH. Maple greater than 6” DBH can be left standing, but contractor can masticate maple greater than 6” DBH if they chose, but it is not required. Contractor must masticate all unmarked oak up to 6” DBH. Oak greater than 6” DBH can be left standing, but contractor can masticate oak greater than 6” DBH if they chose, but it is not required. All conifers must NOT be masticated (jack pine, red pine, white pine, balsam spruce, and white spruce). All Beech and Cherry must NOT be masticated. All standing dead trees must NOT be masticated. There are 5-20 trees (primarily oak) per acre that have been marked with green paint and/or green ribbon. These must NOT be masticated.
