The project consists of the installation of two age-specific play structures in one location with poured in place rubber safety surfacing and engineered wood fiber (EWF) surrounding them both. One play structure will be designed for 2-5 year olds, and the other for 5-12 year olds. A permeable paver access route will connect to the playground from an existing asphalt sidewalk near a pavilion on one end, and an existing regional trail on the other. A concrete sidewalk will wrap around the play area to allow for universal accessibility. The sidewalk surrounding the play area will be designed to accommodate four benches for visitors. Raingardens will be constructed to receive stormwater runoff from the playground and surrounding area and allow it to infiltrate into the soil. The rain gardens will be planted with native plants specifically selected to withstand wet soils, and to provide a habitat for pollinators.
