The Contractor will provide safe and effective use of herbicide (herbicide provided by MDOT) via aerial drone spraying. The application will be applied by the acre. The areas to be sprayed will be defined by MDOT and provided to the Contractor via the Location Specification Sheets (LSS). It is advised that the Contractor visit each site location prior to the application date(s) to preliminarily plan the application flights. Work will be performed late summer/early fall at MDOT’s discretion. MDOT will provide the Contractor with seven (7) working days’ notice prior to the optimal treatment dates for each treatment location. The Contractor must communicate with the specific MDOT Program Manager for each spray site at least 24 hours prior to spraying at that site. MDOT will provide a pesticide application plan which must be followed by the contractor. MDOT will also provide guidance on access controls, signage, and public contacts. The MDOT Program Manager will evaluate whether the application was performed in the correct areas with the appropriate precision to avoid spray drift and damage outside the designated areas. MDOT representatives may observe the pesticide mixing process to be sure the proper chemicals are being used and that they are being mixed to specification as they see fit.
