Tank Information: The structure is a 500,000 gallon double ellipse elevated water storage tank with an estimated low-water level of 80 ft. located at 1107 Bristol Street in Adrian, Michigan. The work includes: Exterior: High pressure water clean (5,000 to 10,000 psi) and spot power tool clean to a SSPC-SP11 standard. Apply a three (3) coat epoxy urethane system. Caulk between the leg baseplates and the concrete foundations. Wet Interior: Abrasive blast clean to a SSPC-SP10 near-white metal standard. Apply a three (3) coat zinc epoxy system. Apply a polyurethane caulk to the roof lap seams. The cathodic protection system is to be removed and reinstalled by the Owner’s vendor (or approved equal), coordination and payment is the Contractor’s responsibility. The mechanical mixer is to be removed and reinstalled after the topcoat is cured. Foundation: Water clean and apply a two (2) coat epoxy system. Repairs: Install riser manway. Replace the gaskets on the wet interior roof hatch and on the bolted painter’s hatch. Overflow discharge modification. Replace fall prevention devices on the wet interior riser and on the exterior leg ladders. Replace the vandal guard. Install a roof platform. Install a wet interior ladder from the roof to the bowl. Balcony access modification. Install a roof handrail with a painter’s railing. Install bowl rigging couplings. Remove the painter’s railing form the wet interior. Replace the damaged electrical junction box. Relocate the aviation light. MISCELLANEOUS There is extensive topcoat delamination on the roof. Note that the Contractor is to account for more sanding to feather in edges of the spot failures prior to coating than usual. Cost is to be included in the exterior overcoating bid.
