Berrien Specialty Courts include Drug Treatment Court, Mental Health Court, Sobriety Court and the Swift & Sure Sanctions Probation Program. All Specialty Courts aim to increase public safety and reduce recidivism by combining effective treatment with accountability. Treatment Providers are an essential part of the Specialty Court Teams bringing professional expertise for assessments, treatment plans, and participant progress. The purpose of this RFP is to create a pool of treatment providers to meet the needs of Berrien’s Specialty Court participants. Providers are encouraged to partner with the courts in ways which fit each treatment agency’s specific goals of serving the community (e.g. capacity, timing and location). It is important to note that Berrien’s Specialty Courts are primarily a voluntary program for participants. That means the participant is freely making the decision to accept help, preventing frequently missed sessions or uncooperative attitudes toward treatment often associated with other court-ordered participation
