Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1 Snow Plowing Specifications 2.1.1 Snow Plowing is defined as moving accumulated snow from parking lots and drives to adjacent areas or designated on-site locations without transporting snow from the immediate vicinity of the lot or drive regardless of the actual equipment used. 2.1.2 For the days noted on the maps (every day or weekdays only) all identified drives, parking lots and other areas must be cleared whenever snow accumulates to a depth exceeding two (2”) inches. 2.1.3 For areas designated for weekday plowing only, Contractor may plow on other days if necessary to reduce snow accumulations that would prevent efficient plowing on the night before the next regular business day. 2.1.4 Several maps identify infrequently used areas that are to be plowed upon request. Contractor is expected to plow these areas within forty-eight (48) hours of receiving the request. A quicker response time may be requested and is expected if plowing of an area is needed to allow the County to address a public safety issue such as equipment repair at a dispatch tower. 2.1.5 All areas to be plowed must be clear and ready for use by 7:00 a.m. 2.1.6 Snow at the Courthouse and the Cutler Street Lot is to be piled as efficiently as possible to take up the least amount of parking space. 2.1.7 When plowing, snow is not to be pushed onto walkways or sidewalks and left for shoveling crews. 2.1.8 Snow at all other County facilities is to be pushed back by the Contractor to an appropriate distance allowing for build-up over the season. 2.1.9 All plowed snow must remain on County property and may not be pushed across County Roads such as, but not limited to 122nd Ave, 33rd St. 2.1.10 Contractor shall take care to avoid damage to signage, landscaping, hydrants, outdoor furnishings, trees, light poles, utility structures, etc. 2.2 Snow Clearing Specifications 2.2.1 Snow Clearing is defined as clearing snow from sidewalks, stoops, around emergency exits, etc. to an immediately adjacent area regardless of the equipment used. 2.2.2 Areas designated for Snow Clearing include, but are not limited to sidewalks, walkways, stoops, exterior stairs, aprons, emergency exits, terraces and balconies which can’t be cleared of snow with a truck mounted plow. 2.2.3 For the days noted on the maps, all identified sidewalks, stoops and other areas must be cleared of snow whenever snow accumulates to a depth exceeding two (2”) inches. 2.2.4 If snow accumulation occurs outside of normal weekday business hours 7:00 am to 5:00 pm or on weekends or on holidays, contractor will clear snow before 7:00 a.m. 2.2.5 If accumulation of 2” is reached during normal weekday business hours, County will clear snow. 2.2.6 At the County’s request, Contractor shall perform clearing during weekday business hours. 2.2.7 Contractor may use any appropriate tools or equipment to clear snow including hand shovels, rotating brooms, snow blowers, or tractor mounted plow / snow-blowers. 2.2.8 When using a snow-blower, Contractor must not blow snow towards buildings. If the only alternative is to blow snow into a lot or drive, the area in question must be cleared before the affected lot or drive is plowed. 2.2.9 Areas in front of Emergency Exits must be cleared to a minimum of three (3’) feet by three (3’) feet.
