The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Bureau and Bridges Statewide Sign Shop is responsible for the fabrication and maintenance of all highway signs in the State of Michigan. The fabrication shop will use the machine to apply 3M reflective sheeting to extruded aluminum plank in compliance with the specs to build the required Type I signs. 1.1. General Requirements A. The horizonal laminator must be the latest model in current production, satisfactory to meet the performance and design character required in the specification. B. The horizontal laminator for extruded aluminum must be delivered fully assembled and equipped with the manufacturer’s standard equipment necessary for operation. C. Manufacturer’s product literature for the make and model being offered must be submitted with bidder’s proposal. The literature must show supporting data for the performance and design specifications described within Attachment 1 – Product Specifications. Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.0 Substrate Dimensions ; 1.1 Width: 12.00 inch maximum ; 1.2 Length: 120.00 inch maximum ; 1.3 Thickness: 1.5 inch maximum ; 2.0 Film Type Dimensions ; 2.1 Permanent film ; 2.2 Delivered on a 3.0-inch core tube with no greater than 14-inch outside diameter ; 2.3 Film roll max weight not to exceed 160 pounds ; 3.0 Features ; 3.1 Energy efficiency motor ; 3.2 Top unwind station including airbrakes (optional bottom unwind/rewind stations) ; 3.3 Single handwheel nip adjustment with digital nip gap indicator ; 3.4 Hydraulic safety air cylinder ; 3.5 Safety pull cords at the infeed/outfeed of the nip; 3.6 Lexan clear guards on the nip ; 3.7 Optional pedestal/caster wheel mounting
