Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4. SECURITY GUARD RESPONSIBILITIES The BWL will provide a procedure manual to all SECURITY GUARDS that includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: a) Protect BWL assets; b) Serve as main point of security contact after normal business hours c) Protect BWL assets by being the initial or assistant contact in support of BWL personnel in dealing with unruly persons interacting with BWL personnel on BWL properties or during course of BWL duties. This includes dealing with persons at locations open to the public or in the field, escorting people from premises, or initiating contact with law enforcement when appropriate. d) Use critical thinking to assess situations as they arise and notify proper personnel to respond accordingly e) Maintain activity logs throughout shifts f) Liaison with local emergency responders as required g) Control access onto property by verifying proper ID. h) signing personnel and vehicles in and out i) Report all security, housekeeping, and safety issues immediately in accordance with post orders j) Keep security post clean and orderly at all times k) Conduct scheduled and unscheduled foot and vehicle patrols, and security escorts as necessary for BWL properties l) Check doors, windows, gates, and exterior lighting each shift m) Arm and disarm burglar-monitoring system n) Open and close gates at scheduled times o) Know and follow security emergency procedures concerning fire, break-in, natural disaster, bomb threat, and civil disturbance, strikes/pickets and HAZMAT incidents p) Operate and monitor all fire and burglar monitoring systems, to include but not limited to security key pads, video control equipment, notifier and simplex fire panels (when not onpremise patrol). q) Effectively communicate and work closely with the BWL’s alarm supplier as needed to monitor and maintain burglary and fire systems. CONTRACTOR management representative will work with to develop a working understanding of the BWL security system and will be available to train Security Guards assigned to the BWL r) Respond to and investigate all alarms and follow post procedures for notification of BWL and CONTRACTOR management s) Maintain ongoing skill verification through quarterly evaluations or as determined by the SECURITY SUPERVISOR t) Provide and maintain training as necessary to assure quality improvement u) Establish and maintain and comply with current, quality post orders v) Maintain effective communication and reporting to BWL through logs, daily activity reports, incident reports, as well as radio, telephone, e-mail, and verbal reporting w) Know all building, door, and gate locations at BWL sites x) Project a professional visible appearance by wearing official supplier approved uniform at all times y) Comply with and enforce all BWL security policies and procedures z) The SECURITY GUARD post is a non-smoking facility
