Specifications include, but are not limited to: The MI School Data Portal Site Redesign must take into the consideration the following new elements to implement while also leveraging the data structures, current data displays and security already created: a) Web Content Management System– MI School Data is interested in leveraging a commercial, off-the-shelf “software system that provides website authoring, collaboration, and administration tools designed to allow users with little knowledge of web programming languages or markup languages to create and manage website content with relative ease”. The state would like to use such a system to integrate applications and information that is not necessarily hosted in the same environment as the existing website. b) Responsive Design – The state would like to accommodate the use of different devices and display sizes to display the website with a minimal amount of additional programming required. Information is currently displayed in charts and graphs that need to accommodate these requirements and remain user friendly. c) Business Intelligence Software – The website design should use an application software designed to retrieve, analyze, transform and report data for business intelligence. The applications generally read data that have been previously stored, often, though not necessarily, in a data warehouse or data mart.
