Specifications include, but are not limited to: design, fabricate, and deliver a large-scale, site-specific art installation as a centerpiece for the Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The selected work of art will be the focus for the design of the Park. The prominent location presents an opportunity for highly visible and vibrant artwork that honors the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The artwork will be of a sufficient height for viewing by park users and vehicle traffic and set back from curbs to ensure that traffic sightlines are not blocked. This is a permanent outdoor installation; artist is responsible for ensuring the piece can handle the weather. While artistic quality is very important, works will be reviewed for durability, safety and appropriateness to the site. Artworks must be structurally sound and able to withstand an outdoor environment (including wind) in a largely unsupervised area that is not protected from weather or curious viewers. Avoiding potential problems such as deteriorating rust and fading should be considered.
